"Kinect Sports Season 2" is the sequel to the original "Kinect Sports" game. "Kinect Sports 2" as it is sometimes called expands upon the gameplay of the original game with six new sports as well as improved use of the "Kinect" capabilities.
Players start by picking from six new sports such as darts, golf, football, skiing and baseball. Each game controls in subtly different ways that feel right for each sports. Players move their hand to control the position of the dart. Holding their hand steady helps lock onto a specific section of the game board. Moving your hand back slowly and hitting roughly the same spot as you started helps throw the dart straight and easily.

Other games have similar and appropriate feels. Baseball involves pitching the ball by throwing towards the screen and batting by taking an appropriate batting stance. Good stances and swings are rewarded with great hits while poor hits and stances result in strike after strike.
This accurate capturing of player movements is easily the highest point of the game. Anybody can start playing the game immediately. It really does help players feel more athletic and skilled at sports than they are in real life. And this brings a very high level of immersion to the game.
However, there are problems. Instead of adding the new games to the old "Kinect Sports" line up, they simply replace the old games. This seems like a mistake, especially compared to "Wii Sports Resort" which featured a dozen different games.
The game also seems short. After mastering the sports, there should be more challenge modes or mini-games to play to extend the life of the game. A "Challenge" modes adds a few mini-games but not enough.

"Kinect Sports 2" still has advantages over the Wii. The "hands off" approach is simply more enjoyable. Some odd tics, such as the hand controlled cursor jumping too rapidly may be annoying but this doesn't detract from the gameplay.
Another major advantage comes in the hardware. Simply put, the XBox 360 has much more advanced visual and audio. Players can jump around in the background, controlling their player and distracting their opponent. This isn't really possible in the Wii games.
The last major advantage of the game is that its simply a lot of fun to play. While not perfect, "Kinect Sports 2" can still provide hours of light hearted non-violent fun.
