The main storyline of PowerUP Heros Kinect features 16 battles, though it is really only eight; the second half of the game consists of the same previous levels, but more grown up and technical. Though there are some differences, which include more aggression, power and additional traps, the truth of the matter is you end up fighting the same people twice.

This isn't exactly bad, though. Why? For one, there is a huge difference between fighting the group the first time and the second time, primarily in difficulty. In fact, the difficulty change is so abrupt, it is like the first half of the game was just a tutorial, but it is not too significant that I could not handle it. The final boss is a different story, with the typical trope occurring — the last boss is simply too powerful for his own good. Nonetheless, I was able to forgive that because of how fun the combat is.

Neither the game nor the combat are very complicated, making it very simple to get into the rhythm, even for casual gamers. All combat moves the enemies make can somehow be countered as well, easily stopping the string of attacks that could quickly defeat your character. The controls are quite simple as well, with some special attacks being as simple as moving an arm.

The only unfortunate thing about this game is that while it's really fun to play, there are no characters you will end up remembering — unless you count your avatar getting in on the action. The game's developer, Ubisoft, does throw in some references for the more all-rounded gamers who play titles like Assassin's Creed, but considering Ubisoft is known for both developing and publishing other games in the fighting genre, it feels like the game will probably quickly be overlooked, which is a real shame considering its profound mechanics. If you enjoy any kind of game, you will definitely find this title to be worth it.
